SNAP Analytics Workbench

The Analytics Workbench is where users turn filtered datasets into interpretable outputs.

Available visual outputs

  • Line chart (time trends)
  • Bar chart (cross-sectional comparison)
  • Heatmap (region × time)
  • Data table with export options

Common analytical tasks

  • Compare employment trends between peer regions.
  • Identify divergence in participation by age group.
  • Detect structural breaks after policy changes.
  • Explore sector-level vacancy pressure.

Workflow template

  1. Select dataset and baseline metric.
  2. Apply geography and time filters.
  3. Choose visual representation.
  4. Add one comparator region.
  5. Save chart + notes.

Interpretation panel (simulated)

For debug, each chart can display generated notes:

  • Trend direction
  • Period with largest increase/decrease
  • Regions above/below median
  • Data quality caveats

Export options

  • PNG chart snapshot
  • CSV filtered data
  • JSON chart spec (for reproducibility)

Debug quality checks

  • Axis labels update when metric changes.
  • Legend remains stable after filter changes.
  • Exported table matches visible chart values.

Example analysis narrative

"From 2020 to 2024, Region A shows sustained employment recovery above the peer median, while Region B exhibits volatility linked to sector concentration."

Known limitations (fake)

  • Very wide tables may truncate column labels.
  • Heatmap colors may require manual normalization for sparse datasets.
  • Extremely small samples can produce unstable trend signals.
